Twins Jenna and Jodi Boucher of West Chester, one set of winners of the Upper Darby Summer Stage’s Flat Stanley “Summer Fun” Coloring & Photo Contest, attended the 10:30am “Flat Stanley” performance today.
When mom Jackie Boucher learned about the “Flat Stanley” contest posted on the Summer Stage Facebook page, she thought it would be a fun “rainy day” activity for her girls. “We had so much rain leading into the July 4th holiday, we had no choice but to come up with some indoor activities,” said Jackie. “When we saw the information about the “Flat Stanley” contest, we took a special trip to the craft store to purchase trimmings to add to the Stanley print-outs.”
On July 4th not only did the girls sport their matching red, white and blue outfits, but they carried their specially laminated Flat Stanley pages with handles made from extra-long popsicle sticks. Off they went to visit their “Pop” to join the July 4th festivities (“Pop” – who appears to throw a really fun party – is featured in the right-background with the inflatable bird outfit!). “Pop” hosts an annual Independence Day party featuring musicians from the Overbrook String Band.
Immediately following the show the girls were all smiles. They could choose anyone in the cast with whom to have their photo and they chose their cousin Emily Reynolds. The girls and Emily had their photo taken by Summer Stage Marketing Intern, Dan Luner. They will receive the photo, framed in a commemorative “Flat Stanley” photo magnet frame, to hang on the fridge as a memento of their fun day at Summer Stage.
When asked if they are planning to see all six children’s shows to qualify for the Golden Ticket Contest, Jackie replied, “I still have to get tickets for “Little Mermaid!” At which point she was told tickets are going fast! (So true!)
Between seeing the show, having their picture taken, winning tickets for “A Year with Frog and Toad,” and seeing cousin Emily after the show, it was an exciting morning that will prove to be a wonderful summertime memory for Jenna and Jodi!
