February 25, 2015 – Drexel Hill, PA – Upper Darby Performing Arts Center invites audiences to enjoy an evening of Irish entertainment with Tony Kenny’s Irish Celebration, March 21 at 7:30 pm. The concert is a wonderful mixture of Irish music, folk songs, comedy and exhilarating Irish dancing, starring one of Ireland’s most beloved artists – Tony Kenny and comedian/singer Richie Hayes – and featuring Ireland’s best young vocalist Bernadette Ruddy, The Trinity Dublin Band and the champion Dublin City Dancers.
The evening of Irish performance takes place on March 21 at 7:30 pm at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center located at 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue in Drexel Hill, PA, minutes from Center City, the Main Line and the Blue Route. Tickets are $21 – $24 and may be purchased online at www.updac.org or at the Box Office: 610.622.1189.
Tony Kenny has starred in the world famous Jury’s Irish Cabaret for more than 20 years and won many awards for his work over the course of decades. He has entertained millions of people in Ireland, and across the U.S. in dozens of coast to coast tours, including Carnegie Hall.
Richie Hayes has been in the entertainment world from the age of four and recently finished runner up on Ireland’s The Voice. He is that rare commodity: a talented singer and brilliant comedian. His debut single, One Voice, reached #3 in iTunes charts, and he subsequently had four top ten singles in the Irish Charts.
Bernadette Ruddy, the girl with the golden voice and golden red hair, hails from the West of Ireland. With her rich earthy tones and touching delivery, Bernadette is the ultimate Irish female ballad singer of today; truly an Ambassador of Song for Ireland.
Added to this stellar mix of Irish artists are the Dublin City Dancers. These dancing athletes have performed in such troupes as Riverdance, Lord of the Dance, Dance of Desire and Battle of the Dance, and traveled the world performing the native dances of Ireland. Their spinning feet and precision movements are breathtaking!
The Trinity Dublin Band is one of Ireland’s best folk bands. From busking on O’Connell Street to playing at the National Concert Hall, this group has wowed audiences of all sizes for years. Their musicality keeps toes tapping as they back dancers, singers, and perform Ireland’s traditional music.
The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center and Upper Darby Summer Stage are jointly sponsored by the Upper Darby School District Board of School Directors and Upper Darby Township Mayor and Council through the Department of Recreation and Leisure Services.
