Featuring the Director and select cast members on July 21 at the Swarthmore Public Library
July 14, 2016 – Drexel Hill, PA. The Swarthmore Public Library invites the public to attend a special storytime performance of “Disney’s Mulan, Jr.” The performance will take place at the Swarthmore Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 and there is no fee to attend.
Select cast members from the production at Upper Darby Summer Stage will perform a few scenes and songs from the show. Director, Sarah DeNight, an actress and director who hails from Garnet Valley, will speak to audience members and their parents on important themes in the show.
DeNight said, “We are hoping to bring some of the well-known Disney Magic from the movie to the show and then mix it with our Summer Stage magic.” She added, “This show teaches audiences that they can simply be the hero or heroine of their story.”
Mulan tells an important story while audiences travel back to the legendary days of ancient China. With this action-packed stage adaptation of Disney’s Oscar-nominated animated film, the Huns have invaded, and it is up to the misfit Mulan and her mischievous sidekick Mushu to save the Emperor. Mulan is dealt the task of saving all of China in this heartwarming celebration of culture, honor and a fighting spirit.
“Disney’s Mulan Jr.” is a part of the 41st season at Upper Darby Summer Stage. The production will run August 3-5 at 10:30 a.m. with an evening performance on August 4 at 7:30 pm at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, located at 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue in Drexel Hill.
