UPPER DARBY ARTS AND EDUCATION FOUNDATION PRESENTS “CALL OF THE CHAMPIONS” GALA

Over 600 Students and Faculty to Perform in Spectacular Fundraising Concert

The fanfare of the John Williams theme from the Salt Lake City Olympics accompanies a parade of students carrying flags from more than 65 nations represented within the Upper Darby School District. More than 600 students and music faculty present one of Pennsylvania’s largest and most successful fundraising concerts.

The Upper Darby Arts and Education Foundation announces its nineteenth annual gala fundraiser, Call of the Champions to be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, 601 North Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill. Call of the Champions is one of the largest concerts to take place in the state of Pennsylvania. Presenting more than 600 performers ranging from kindergarten students to music faculty members, the annual gala is the event of the year in the Upper Darby community and sells more than 1,200 tickets each year, raising funds for literacy intitiatives, the arts and classroom projects.

Upper Darby School District is one of the most diverse in the nation and boasts more than 60 languages that are spoken in the community. The Gala will begin with a parade of flags carried by students in national dress from their county of origin. Highlights of the Gala include Elementary and Middle School Honors Choruses; an Elementary Honors Band and Middle School and District Honors Orchestras; Upper Darby High School’s Encore Singers, Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir and an all-star faculty jazz band. Outstanding student soloists add to the excitement and professionalism of this event.

Since its inception in 1998, the Upper Darby Arts and Education Foundation has raised more than $2 million to benefit the children of the Upper Darby School District. The annual Gala has been a major source of these funds.

Call of the Champions is the nineteenth fundraising Gala for the Upper Darby Arts and Education Foundation, Inc. The Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation formed to supports innovative projects that will enrich the educational experience of each child in the District by building partnerships with the community and the Upper Darby School District.
