April 12, 2018 • Drexel Hill, PA | Pennsylvania Ballet II presents an original ballet for the entire family, Prince Charming: A Cinderella Story. The performance takes place on April 28 at 11 am at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA.
A new twist on the classic Cinderella story, Prince Charming is a world premiere with choreography by Samantha Dunster, Pennsylvania Ballet’s Assistant Artistic Director, and an original musical score by composer Kermit Poling.
Tickets for the performance on April 28 are $10 – $13 and may be purchased by visiting www.updac.org or by calling the box office at 610.622.1189. The ballet is approximately one-hour and ideal for children ages 4 and up and their families.
The ballet was created specifically for the Pennsylvania Ballet’s family series and the music is an original score intended to help portray the story for young audience members. Composer Kermit Poling uses several musical themes throughout the score to help children better understand the characters.
“I work on making the music approachable and have it work seamlessly with the choreography,” said Mr. Poling. “This allows the music to further tell the story, which is fitting for this Family Series performance.”
Pennsylvania Ballet II is a company of young professional dancers who perform regionally as part of Pennsylvania Ballet’s Community Engagement programs.
This is the third year in a row where the Pennsylvania Ballet has collaborated with the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, offering original family-friendly productions to introduce young audiences to the art of classical ballet.
The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center and Upper Darby Summer Stage are jointly sponsored by the Upper Darby School District Board of School Directors and Upper Darby Township Mayor and Council through the Department of Recreation and Leisure Service.
