Audition information for Tuck Everlasting
Philadelphia’s Barrymore-winning summer theater program Upper Darby Summer Stage is seeking actors ages 18-28 for their 46th season summer production of Tuck Everlasting. Sarah DeNight will direct, with musical direction by Gina Giachero, and choreography by Abby Shunskis Dietzler.
What would you do if you had all eternity?
Tuck Everlasting follows the adventures of eleven-year-old Winnie Foster as she explores the world beyond her white picket fence. When Winnie becomes entwined with the Tuck Family and learns of the magic behind their unending youth, she must fight to protect their secret from those who would do anything for a chance at eternal life. She faces an extraordinary choice: return to her life, or continue with the Tucks on their infinite journey?
Summer Stage is excited to explore this story of life, love, and family. After a year unlike any other, the chance to tell a story which celebrates the wonder of simply living, is such a gift. We are seeking performers ages 18-28 of all races, ethnicities, shapes, and sizes to help bring this story to life in a vibrant and original way.
Auditions will be held in person on Sunday, June 13th at 1PM with callbacks on June 14th at at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, 601 North Lansdowne Ave, Drexel Hill, PA 19026
Please prepare a 16-32 bar cut of a contemporary song from musical theatre, and to bring music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided. For the dance portion, please come prepared with clothes that will allow you to move without restriction.
Live performances will be held Friday 7/30, Saturday 7/31, Friday 8/6, & Saturday 8/7 at 7:30PM with streamed performances Sunday 8/1 & 8/8 at 2pm.

WINNIE FOSTER – 11 years old, precocious and imaginative with a contagious zest for life. She caught between her devotion to her family and the chance at a life full of never-ending adventure. *will be casting 18+ for this role*
MOTHER – Winnie’s mother, caring and rigid with her rules. She is trying to balance mourning the death of her husband and reigning in Winnie’s adventurous spirit.
NANA – Winnie’s grandmother, and her partner in crime. Has lived in Treegap all her life and helps give Winnie the push she needs to chase adventure.
JESSE TUCK – the youngest of the Tuck family, stuck at age 17 forever. He is exuberant and loves getting into trouble. Finds what he didn’t know he had been missing in Winnie’s friendship.
MILES TUCK – Jesse’s older brother, dealing with the loss of his family, who are still living, but aging without him. Strong-willed and aggressive, but with a soft heart hidden underneath.
MAE TUCK – Jesse & Miles’ mother, the consummate matriarch and the magnet that pulls her boys back to Treegap every 10 years. A woman who has been struggling with the need to protect her secret and longing for a reason to dream again.
ANGUS TUCK – Jesse’s father, a lovable and simple man. He is not quite the man Mae fell in love with all those years ago, but with Winnie’s help, he may be able to find him again.
MAN IN THE YELLOW SUIT – a nefarious leader of a traveling carnival, in search of the fountain of youth. A consummate showman, the ring leader with a mischievous glint in his eye. Willing to do whatever it takes to have everlasting life, no matter who gets in his way.
CONSTABLE JOE – head of the police force in Treegap, a bit bumbling, but well-meaning. Talks over his son, but ultimately values his input.
HUGO – Constable Joe’s sidekick and son. An eager young “detective” who simply wants to do a good job. Endearing and patient to a fault.
ENSEMBLE – Various memories, spirits, travelers, townsfolk, carnival workers and patrons, and story-tellers
